TRAINING PROGRAM LEVELS

We definitely encourage the person to train the service dog with us and work through the Canine Good Citizen; the Canine Good Citizen Program lays the foundation for other CKC activities such as obedience, agility, tracking, and performance events. As you work with your dog to teach the CGC skills, you'll discover the many benefits and joys of training your dog. Training will enhance the bond between you and your dog.

Dogs who have a solid obedience education are a joy to live with; they respond well to household routines, have good manners in the presence of people and other dogs, and they fully enjoy the company of the owner who took the time to provide training, intellectual stimulation, and a high quality life. We sincerely hope that CGC will be only a beginning for you and your dog and that after passing the CGC test, you'll aspire training to Level 2. Depending on the client's current situation and disability he or she may train the dog with us or, under certain circumstances, send the dog to us for training.

  • Level 1 Accreditation: The dog has the status of IN TRAINING and is only allowed public access with an AUDEAMUS trainer.
  • Level 2 Accreditation: Allows the team to practice and improve their skills in preparation of the Level 3 Full Certification.

  • Level 3 Certification: The team must achieve the established K9 Spectrum International Standard that will be evaluated by an independent third party trainer outside of the teams training program. Once attained the team is now protected under the disability act and the charter of human rights. The team is issued an exclusive service harness and an ID Card with accompanying paperwork.

  • Recertification: Recertification is mandatory every three years to maintain certification.

  • Level 4 Certification: This level is under development. As a result of the Ukrainian Hero’s Companion Missions, it was determined that advanced skills are required for traveling in and out of Canada. This can apply to members wanting to travel with their service dog.
